01, Why measure it
VO2 max is the rate at which your body can deliver and use oxygen at maximum effort. Across two decades of research, it remains the strongest single predictor of all-cause mortality, stronger than smoking history, stronger than blood pressure, stronger than most lipid panels.
Improving it adds measurable years. We test it because what gets measured is what changes.
02, The protocol

Pre-test screening
Resting ECG, blood pressure, brief medical review. Five minutes with the physician before you climb on the bike.

Graded ramp protocol
On a calibrated cycle ergometer wearing a metabolic mask, with workload increased every minute until volitional exhaustion. 15–20 minutes of effort.
03
Recovery & debrief
Heart-rate recovery measured for five minutes. The physician sits with you and walks you through the curves on the screen.
04
Written report
Within 24 hours: VO2 max, anaerobic threshold, fat-oxidation crossover, training-zone prescription. A working document, not a certificate.
